Andy Mckee (Né le 4 Avril, 1979 à Topeka, Kansas) est un guitariste américain, utilisant le style du tapping. Il est, actuellement, signé à l'US-American record label Candyrat Records. Son style de jeu et ses compositions lui ont fait gagner une place considérable auprès des fans de tapping et de picking.

Andy Mckee commence à jouer de la guitare acoustique à l'âge de 13 ans. Peu de temps après, il obtient sa première guitare électrique et reproduit les standards de ses groupes favoris (Metallica, Eric Johnson, Joe Satriani et Dream Theater). À l'âge de 16 ans, il découvre des artistes solistes tels que Michael Hedges, Don Ross et Billy McLaughlin. Ces derniers sont aujourd'hui revendiqués comme ses influences principales. A 20 ans, Andy McKee compose ses premiers morceaux et sort en 2001 un premier album intitulé Nocturne. La même année il termine 3ème d'une compétition nationale de guitare acoustique, faisant de lui le plus jeune guitariste à être classé dans le top 3. Dès son plus jeune âge il fait preuve de dévouement pour la pratique instrumentale de la guitare. D'autres ont une passion pour le football ou jouer à PartyPoker Francais et y mettront tout leur temps. Pour Andy, c'est exactement ce qu'il a fait et cela s'est avéré un grand succès. En 2003, Andy McKee commence à se produire à l'étranger, notamment à Taiwan aux côtés de Jacques Stotzem, Isato Nakagawa et Masaaki Kishibe. Son goût pour l'expérimentation le conduit à jouer avec un instrument particulier, hybride d'une harpe et d'une guitare. Son deuxième album, Dreamcatcher, voit le jour en 2004. Il enchaine l'année suivante avec Art Of Motion. Enfin, il lance en 2007 son dernier album paru jusqu'à maintenant, Gates Of Gnomeria.

Andy McKee is one of the world’s finest acoustic soloists. After receiving over 20 million views collectively for his Youtube videos which were posted by the independent record label “Candyrat”, Andy’s success is a testament to the changing nature of the music industry as well as people’s desire for something new and interesting to listen to. At one point, Andy held the 1, 2 and 3 positions for Top-Rated Videos of All Time on the hugely popular website. His videos are still among the highest rated on Youtube. Consequently, Andy has performed to sold out shows in all over the world.

After starting with an interest in electric guitar, Andy turned to the acoustic guitar at the age of 16 and began enjoying and studying the music of Michael Hedges, Don Ross, Billy McLaughlin and Preston Reed. To this day he still sites these four musicians as his primary influences in acoustic music. At the same time, Andy draws inspiration from various other musicians and groups such as; Earth Wind and Fire, The Yellowjackets, Bjork, Imogen Heap, Pantera, Eric Johnson, Peter Gabriel, Dream Theater, Bruce Hornsby, and many others.

While there are countless amazing guitar players in the world, it is Andy’s attention to song structure and melodic content that elevates him above the typical guitarist. It can be observed that Andy likes to try different things with the guitar such as; altered tunings, partial capos, percussive hits, and tapping. But in the hands of Andy these are not mere parlor tricks, they are compositional tools used to create some of the finest crafted music for the steel string acoustic guitar.

Andy was born in Topeka, Kansas and still lives there today. He performs between 100-200 shows annually across the world.
